A gun, a teenager, a body

A teenager falls victim to his stepdad’s new hobby.

Do not worry, he is not playing this game alone.

Listen, can’t you hear the despair in his mother’s tone,

searching for an answer to his problem.

I watched a teenage boy pacing in the street.

He’s tired of watching his fragile mother being beat

by a man he doesn’t approve.

His only restraint was that she was in love,

But when his stepdad’s hand turns on him,

he decides something must be done.

So, he does the most reasonable thing, and buys a gun.

With the answer to his problem hidden,

I watched a teenage boy pacing in the street.

He’s tired of waiting for revenge and death to meet.

The man who hurt his one true lady love,

no longer restrained by fear.

But when he sees his stepdad again,

it’s in the back of an ambulance.

Someone decided his life deserved a chance.

With tears rolling down her face,

A mother screams hearing her son sing,

“You Are Not Alone”.

See he found refuge in a microphone,

entertaining others became his new hobby.

He was destined to be somebody.
