By William Mellon
The pious man is arrogant you know
always eager to demean you so
To pass judgment on your many faults
Ready with limiting life to be held in a vault
Oh so superior and condescending
finding joy only by pretending
Oh so perfect and seemingly serene
often clad as vestrymen so pristine
so be aware to discern true intent
so there will be little to repent
Life will not be lost, but indeed well spent.
