Ode to the Undefined

By Tiffany Thomas
I see you, flame
with your golden arms
untouchable, life giving
You thrive anywhere
In a blizzard, I’ve seen you emerge
You light up any darkness
A warm glow resonating
In the back of the blackest cave
How must one define you?
I’ve watched you soar
A monarch’s wing
The fluttering heartbeat
Of an orchestra
Bursting in rhythm
With the steady pace
Of your wild river
We all know your secret
Flames are blue
Yes, your canyons are deep with splendor.
I’ve watched you dance
Your mysterious, open armed embrace
What is your secret?
It never stays the same, but a flame is always a
flame.
